If only our church leaders would understand what is the central message of Christianity.
I heard this so many times around here:
„fratele „cutare” nu este un invatator, ci numai un evanghelist, as if that is something lower.
That is the reason we are losing battles with sin , the Gospel is not central in our lives .
Us conservatives, love to have the lists with the do and dont’s, as if that is the way we can win Christ acceptance , forgetting that only living trough Him will give us freedom to do the do’s and not do the donts . This is my biggest battle every morning, to take the cross , and follow Him.Sadly, I fail so many times , forgetting that He died for me and going after my own desires.
If you ever have time listen to this sermon by Jerry Bridges, Four essential of finishing well ”

Thanks for your link, somehow I’m pretty sure, after I listen to those sermons, they will get posted here promptly. Jerry Bridges is one that I listen to. One of the reasons people in Chicago frequent the American Baptists churches (one in particular) is because people like Jerry Bridges come there to preach occasionally. I am not talking about being awe struck of man when I say this, but of God working through men, when there are these preachers out there who obviously love the Lord with all their heart, and live what they preach, and what an honor befalls us to be able to ‘hear’ them preach the Gospel live. I often think about the way Christians must have been blessed to be able to hear the apostles preach and see them live. These preachers lives can be ‘real testimonies’ in themselves. I once visited an American church and it was so full that the only seats left were right up front, and my heart stopped when I saw we were seated right next to the Pastor.
I saw his 1/2 page of notes for the sermon and then I heard him preach. WOW, I realized, you could not preach the way he preached, if you didn’t know (the word), lived (the word) and breathed (the word). That changedmy whole attitude towards American churches and preachers and opened me up to sermons by Piper, and many other God serving great men.
I hope you have the time to read and listen to the 60 minute documentary of Keith Green I am posting in a couple of hours. You will feel very challenged and inspired and it will cement what you said in your comment today, and previous other ones.
I cannot believe I did not know Keith Green’s full story til now, but it is making a profound difference in my outlook and it could not have come at a more opportune time, with the whole Rob Bell wafflers, which is an apparent tactic of Satan to take our eyes off finishing the race well. Here’s a link to Keith Green’s ‘Churches asleep in the light’ Amazing-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJrtOtNFgc4&feature=player_embedded#at=157
PS and I was amazed to find out that Leonard Ravenhill was a good friend of his (they lived close to each other)
