I was recently fired as youth and teaching pastor for my belief that
Hell is not eternal torment. I wrote a book about my beliefs and what
the Scriptures actually teach on the subject. It’s coming out soon, you
can check out my blog to follow along. I’d love to get the message out
to as many people as possible. The book is called „What the Hell” How
Did We Get It So Wrong?

Hi Jackson,
Thanks for taking the time to engage in dialogue on my blog.
I am glad to see that you do believe there is judgement for people rejecting Christ ,however, I disagree with you on your statistic that the Bible does not mention hell. If there is going to be judgement, then with judgement come consequences or punishment, and Jesus certainly spoke of judgement-just to name a couple of texts (Ex parable of the wheat and tares in Matthew 13:24 and the parable of the sheep and the goats in Mattthew 25:31) and Revelation 20:15 states: And anyone not found written in the Book of LIfe was cast into the lake of fire.” so what is a lake of fire?Sounds like hell to me. How do you reconcile all the Biblical verses, especially the ones spoken by Jesus? The only way I can see you refuting them is to claim that the Bible is not authoritative or has been altered over the years and then make your argument against the existence of hell
Bob Deffingbaugh at bible.org makes a lot of sense as to why people reject the Bible’s teaching of hell when he says:
To a great extent, our view of eternal punishment reflects our attitude toward the wretchedness of sin. A diminished view of sin cannot fathom the severity of eternal judgment. A biblical view of sin necessitates a judgment beyond the grave. A grasp of the horrors of hell also affects our motivation in evangelism and our desire to live a pure and holy life.
There are a lot of verses you would have to discredit on this subject. Here are just a few in this article alone-http://bible.org/seriespage/hell-shun
