I think I am expert on Paul Washer( listened to all his sermons ) . I hear many lines used by Washer in David Platt’s sermons. 🙂 .

When David Platts book ‘Radical’ came out, the Reformed community had lots of „questions” as to whether Platt was putting too much emphasis on works (an accusation I see on American blogs or Youtube videos on a somewhat regular basis leveled against Paul Washer). Then at a recent conference this year, when asked whether there was anything in the book that he would now change, John Piper chimed in and said that David Platt should no change a thing in his book ‘Radical’.
David Platt and Paul Washer have this in common – A high passion for the lost, followed by specific plans on reaching the lost. And they show their passion in their emotions when they speak, exhort and praise God in their sermons. That is why for me, these two along with John Piper are men of God who teach, exhort and inspire from a deep love and respect for God and His word and I could listen to each of them all day long, preaching on just about anything because their sermons actually bring me into the presence of God. Ok, I think the length of my comment shows how much I appreciate these men of God. 🙂 One thing that is clearly seen is that these men have a true calling from God and they are led by His Holy Spirit..

Amen. Alister Begg is another preacher I listen to daily. He has an app” truth for life”. he is not as ” intense” , but he is an excelent preacher with a touch of brit humor ….Piper had him preach at DG .

In Chicago we are fortunate to have Moody Bible Institute’s Radio program where I listened to men like Begg preach long before I knew who they were. He is an excellent Bible teacher and as far as „intense”, I think we are a bit caught up in the Scottish accent (we Americans are fascinated and love British,Australian,Scottish, Irish accents 🙂 because he can be intense too when he preaches. I wish he would release more videos of his sermons though, his website mostly has audio downloads available just like the Moody Radio website has so many great audio sermons, but in the advent of visual electronics many people will not listen to just audio, regardless who the preacher is.

You are right, i love his accent and specially his humor . When it comes to churches , here in Portland we are very unfortunate , not many solid churches .

and how is your dad?
oct. 20, 2011 @ 07:30:16
Gabi thanks for asking; he is improving. The health problem he had (a blockage which was corrected) was a life threatening thing yet, God, for His reasons alone got him through it (when most people would not have survived )and now all of his vital signs are improving daily. As we know that God numbers our days, we trust in Him and His will and do everything within our means to help our dad regain his strength. The rest will be up to God to see him through this.
