The Temple – Every detail of the Tabernacle speaks directly about Jesus Christ

The tabernacle, somtimes called the house of blood. In addition to the two tablets of the Law that Moses brought down from the mountain, he also received  a set of engineering specifications for a portable sanctuary. The Scriptures devote more space to the description of the Tabernacle than any other single subject in the Bible. That should get our attention. It had a structure, it had furniture, it had a priesthood, and it had special offerings, which are detailed in the Book of Leviticus.

Interesting statistics:

  • It took 7 years to build
  • The tabernacle’s perimeter is the length of Noah’s Ark
  • It has one door; anyone who doesn’t enter by that door is a thief and a robber.
  • It is very similar to the tabernacle, but instead of 1 lamp stand there are now 10 of them. Instead of 1 table of showbread there are 10 of them. Outside there are now 10 lavers of bronze instead of 1. And there is an outer court and an inner court.
  • Inside is the Temple proper, a portable building made of wooden planks covered with gold. It is right in front of the Holy of Holies. This is called the Holy place and housed a (1) menorah, (2) the table of showbread and a (3) golden altar, sometimes called the altar of incense.
  • No one was allowed in the Holy of Holies ever, except the High Priest, and he, only once a year, on Yom Kippur, after great ceremonial preparation. In the Holy of Holies are 2 things: (4) The Ark of the Covenant and (5) the Mercy Seat. These 5 things and the laver outside and the furniture of the tabernacle

Our personal architecture:

Each one of these things has a relaitonship to us personally. 7 times in the Scripture it says, „You are the temple of God.” 1 Corinthians 3:9-17; 6:19; 2 Corinthians 6:16; Ephesians 2:20-21; Hebrews 3:6; 1 Peter 2:5; 4:17. You are supposed to love God with all your mind, all your heart, all your soul. What is the difference between heart, mind, and soul? Does the mind mean the brain? No, it’s much more than that. There are two things in Solomon’s Temple that the tabernacle did not have. The porch is added and there’s also these personal storage places around the outside, in which the priests stored their private things. That’s where they kept their personal idols, that’s what needed cleaning out. That’s also with you and I. What some psychologists might call the subconscious, where we tuck away all those things.
