Leviticus 23:23-24

The Festival of Trumpets

23 The Lord said to Moses, 24 “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. 25 Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the Lord.’”

Paul Wilbur: In the synagogue this is known as the Day of judgment. Even the binding of Isaac, Genesis 22 is read on this day. Isn’t it interesting that the rabbis will say, „God doesn’t accept human sacrifices. That’s not in the Scriptures.” Yet, on Rosh Hashana, the reading of Genesis 22 and the binding of Isaac  is accepted as the sacrifice for our sin, that his sacrifice, and as you know, there was a sacrifice for the sacrifice. Abraham raised his knife to do what the Lord told him to do  with his young son, and then, there in the thicket was a ram caught by its horns. Now, isn’t it interesting that those horns that were caught is where we get these instruments- shofars.

The shofar is not a toy. it is not something to play with. Actually, on the last day, as the Messiah returns, 1 Thessalonians 4 says, „One day soon, you will hear the shout of the angel of the Lord, and at the blast of the shofar and those who have fallen asleep in the Messiah will rise first. And those of us who are still alive, who are still singing ‘Let God arise’, Psalm 84, will be caught up together with them in the clouds and forever you will be with the Lord. That’s a good promise.

First Friday „Rosh Hashanah” with Paul Wilbur,

Asher Intrater, Don Heist HD (09-05-14)‬

The First Friday service of each month at Celebration Church is a Messianic service, which is an effective outreach to the Jewish community in our area. This service is held on the first Friday of each month at 7:30pm at the Celebration Arena and includes dynamic Messianic worship alongside strong biblical teaching centered on the Jewish roots of our faith.
The service is Jewish in form in that we light shabbat candles, read from the Torah in Hebrew, close the service with the Aaronic Blessing in Hebrew and worship with songs that are Messianic in flair and lyric. Both Jews and Christians will feel at home during this service and encounter the God of Israel in a new way.
