Professor Marianne H. Skanland Discourse in Oslo on April 16th, 2016

Marianne H. Skanland: Norway prides itself on being a democracy, and Norwegian politicians and other leaders travel around the world preaching human rights to others. When it comes in the form of criticism against them, though, the Norwegian state does not like free speech any more. They try to make it impossible, even criminal, to show others how Barnevernet acts……”

Freedom of expression in Barnevern cases
Speech at the demonstration outside the Norwegian parliament on 16 April 2016 by Marianne H. Skanland

Freedom of speech is important and positive. This is an opinion shared by most of us. Why?

It cannot be because it’s always nice to hear people’s honest opinion. It isn’t nice, because it is so often critical.

So again: Why do we think it is important?

Well, let us hear what the European Court of Human Rights has to say about freedom of expression (‘expression’ comprises both speech and writing). In a judgment from 1976, the Court says clearly that free expression is one of –

„…. the principles characterising a ‘democratic society’. Freedom of expression constitutes one of the essential foundations of such a society, one of the basic conditions for its progress and for the development of every man.”

To Marianne Skanland: Thank you so very much for your sincere explanations given herein. I certainly appreciate your sincere explanations, and I hope all of the Romanian readers do. It makes sense what you bring up to the table. As a Norway seasoned professor, you’re more familiar with the political and administrative environment in Norway than we are here in the States. For example, in the States, our judicial system is directly involved in these CPS cases. In addition to the CPS specialized attorneys tending to these cases, the courts encourages the parents to file complaints directly with the Courts against abusive CPS officials. We also have a very fair Federal law, in the U.S. Judicial Code, Title 28 U.S.C., Section 1654, which allows any public Citizen [aggrieved by any officials] to file complaints with nearest Federal Court and actually be seen and heard by a federal judge [and even State judge]. Imagine, Marianne, the magnitude of grief in the hearts of the Bodnarius and their relatives and the 5 little children! I am speechless when I think of such a demoniac-inspired calamity initiated with the acquiescence of Norway government to be visited upon the unsuspecting family of Bodnarius! I hope the time will come soon for the Norway government to give an account to a supreme judicial court [just as the German government did for its complicity in the killing of Jews during WWII].
