Is God Removing His Hand Off America

Are we going through some things that all nations sometime go through and we’re going to come out on the other side?

President Abraham Lincoln, after the civil war  read this verse and believed it was a reference to the United States of America:

Isaiah 5:5

And now, please let Me tell you what I will do to My vineyard:
I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned;
And break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down.

Lincoln said that we were God’s vineyard and because of the civil war, the hedge had been broken down, but God wanted to restore His vineyard back to its proper place and its proper unity. Its interesting that he chose that verse to talk about the vineyard and to compare it to America, because in the New Testament, Jesus gave a parable of the vineyard and He said the vineyard is produced and the master sends individuals servants to help in the vineyard. People kill the individuals that are working . They send someone else, and they kill that person. And at last, the owner of the vineyard  sends his son, they kill him. Jesus asked the Pharisees: What would the owner of the vineyards do after the people kill the son? They answer: He-ll give it to another person that will bring forth fruit. And Jesus made the statement, „The Kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to another  nation, which shall bring forth fruit in season.”  (Matthew 21:43)

Most scholars read that parable, they say that Christ was alluding to a prediction of the church, which is called a Holy Nation. The church is not just a group of people or a building sitting on a corner. According to the Bible it’s a Holy Nation, a chosen generation and a royal priesthood.  (1 Peter 2:9) However, I also believe something else. I believe that God raised up the United States and we are and have been a prophetic vineyard. A vineyard is a place where seed is planted. And it’s a place where fruit is produced. America has been a nation that has produced fruit for the Kingdom of God-

  • The leading nation that supports the Gospel.
  • The leading nation that supports missionaries.
  • The leading nation that sends missionaries around the world to build orphanages.
  • Bibles – taking Bibles into third world countries.
  • Helping the poor, the needy. Feeding people that are in poverty.
  • Digging wells in nations like Africa, so people could have fresh water.

Certainly, I could say without a doubt, God has blessed the United States because we have been a compassionate people for many, many centuries. There seems to be a pattern emerging that I have thought about and that I have heard other ministers talk about. It’s a five fold pattern. And in this five fold pattern it reveals the five point progression of a nation that begins to lose favor with God because of its iniquity, because of its sin and because of breaking the commandments of God’s word. This five fold process was a part of ancient Israel. And the five fold process of ancient Israel affected that nation  and it’s going to affect the United States today. This happened over a period of 40 years.

  1. 1st – Warning – Forty years before the destruction of the Temple, Christ gave a warning in Matthew 24 that not one stone would be left upon  another, that shall not be thrown down. And Christ predicted that the Temple would be destroyed. The first thing God does is He gives warning. He gives prophetic warnings to nations. He give prophetic warnings to people and to those who will listen to Him and even those who aren’t.
  2. 2nd – Selective Chastisement – You read the New Testament and you discover that there was a Herod that killed the babies of Bethlehem. Jewish history says he died a very terrible death. You have another Herod that beheaded John the Baptist. He, too, died a very violent death. And you have a third Herod in Acts 12 who beheaded James. He  also died a very violent death. (Matthew 2:16; Matthew 14:3,10 and Acts 12:1-2) This is selective chastisement, where God is chastising individuals, leaders, who are attacking the people of God.
  3. 3rd – Complete Chastisement – This is where chastisement moves from individuals to an area or to an entire nation. We see that in the historical evidence of a famine  that struck Judea in the Book of Acts. That famine literally struck the entire area. It affected every person in Judea. (Acts 11:27-29) NOTICE the PROGRESSION. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED in a 40 YEAR PERIOD.
  4. 4th – Selective Judgment – Selective judgment is when the entire nation is not judged, but certain areas of the nation experience a terrible calamity, a natural disaster, or in some cases invasions and wars. In the United States, we’ve had several cities that were affected by hurricanes. Selective judgment in Jesus’s day was how the Romans would come into certain areas and they would begin to occupy that area, persecute the people of that area and eventually number 5 came. (Matthew 5:45)
  5. 5th – Complete Judgment / Abandonment – The 5th is the most dangerous. It is called complete abandonment- when God lifts His hand off of something after having His hand on it. In the Bible, when the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah, or the hand of God was on a prophet that God was speaking, leading, and directing , God was motivating those people to hear from Him. And He was blessing them for their obedience. However, when God’s hand is removed off of something, it is the hedge of protection and blessing being removed. In the Book of Job, for example, God had a hedge around Job, around his family, around his health, around his property and around his animals. (Job 1:10) Job was blessed because of the hedge God put on him. But, when Satan came, the Lord said to Satan, „”All that he hath is in thy power.” (Job 1:12) That word ‘power’ is a hebrew word which means ‘all that he has is given into your hand’.  In other words, God had a hedge on Job, He protected everything by putting His hand of favor upon Job. But, suddenly, when the hand of God was removed, the hand of the adversary was permitted to move in. When the hand of the adversary moved into Job’s situation, there was lightning that struck, there was a whirlwind that struck, and there was his health that became affected, as well as economically he lost everything he had. (Job 1:13-19)

So, in other words, when we see what I call the judgment of the Lord, God is not in heaven with a baseball bat, beating people in the head so, „Let’s just kill a whole bunch, cause I don’t love them.” God loves the earth, He loves the world. But, I wanna say something to you that’s very, very important. And that is, when God begins to see a nation turn form Him, the only way that God can turn that nation back to Him is when he allows bad things to happen.Think about this for a moment. You may say, „Why would God allow something bad to happen to America, or His people?” Look at the ancient Israelites. Here’s the thing I want to show you. Many of you, if something terrible had not happened in your life, something negative, maybe you ended up in an accident in the hospital or with a sickness that the doctors said they could not cure. And suddenly you turned to God. You knew you were mortal. You knew that eternity was out there. You didn’t know where you were going to go. But, suddenly, you turned your heart to God. Sometimes bad situations happen. People lose their jobs and they have to turn their heart to God. Some people, their child becomes sick and they have to have faith to know that the only person that can help that sick child is God.

Here’s what I’m trying to say: The Lord sometimes will allow things to happen to people, to seize their attention and to turn their heart. And this is the reason that the hand of God sometimes lifts off of the people or it lifts off of a nation. Because when it does, the people have nowhere to turn. Their government fails them, their friends fail them, their family and relatives fail them. Who do you turn to at a time like this? Job lost everything he had, yet he maintained his integrity with God and would not curse God with his mouth, because he knew his blessings had come form the Lord. (Job ch. 42)

Let me talk for a moment about America

You look at these Kings in the Bible. And these kings in the Bible did 3 things that provoked the Lord continually.

  1. They allowed sodomites to continue their practices. (1 Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46
  2. They allowed the Israelites to worship idols. The kings knew that the real God was the true God. (1 Kings 15:14; 2 Kings 12:3; 14:4)
  3. They allowed the children to be offered to Molech (Jeremiah 32:35)

These are the 3 things that the Kings did, that in each instance, brought a judgment or a chastisement form the Lord. Could it be that we are experiencing some of the things that we are in America- the economic industry, the banking difficulty, cities that are going bankrupt… I could go on and on and talk about the things that we are encountering. Is it possible that God is trying to get our attention? Is it possible He is saying, „I have had My hand on you, but if I lift My hand from you, look at what could happen. and look at what could take place.”

One of the situations that we deal with in America especially is the issue of judges, because judges make the law. We know the Senate and Congress makes the law, but judges are also a part of passing laws. And we must know that the judges have to legislate by the rule and by law, and not legislate on the bench their own personal moral conviction. Because sometimes people are extremely liberal, they vote more , or they make a decision, I should say, based more on their opinion of what they like or dislike vs. what is right and what is wrong.  In the Old Testament time, for example, you will discover that Israel went into captivity and when Daniel was praying and repenting (Daniel ch. 9) for the sins of Israel, he also repented for the judges of Israel. Daniel 9:11-12-

Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him. 12 And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such has never been done as what has been done to Jerusalem. 14:00

If you look at the sacred historical writing in the jewish book of Jasher, it tells that the judges in the city made decisions that brought on the immorality and eventually brought on the judgment of God. The same thing is happening in our nation today, where judges are making decisions contrary to good judgment, contrary to common sense and contrary to God’s word.

  1. When God becomes separated form government, nothing is to restrain evil. In other words, its righteousness and good laws, or righteous laws,  that restrains the evil that is in the earth- when God is separated from government, there is nothing to restrain  and soon, judgment will follow.
  2. When you don’t honor God as Creator, He gives people up to their own lust and evil passions. In other words, in the Book of Romans it says He gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things  which were unlawful and unseemly. In other words, if you don’t honor God and put Him first as the Creator, then you are unrestrained in your passions and there will be all sorts of perversions.

I want to give you some points about America:

  1. God lifts the hedge that will keep the enemy out when you walk in disobedience to Him. I  do believe that all of us who are believers have a protective hedge around us. Perhaps it’s angels of God. But, I also know this, that when that hedge is lifted, terrible things can happen. I also believe America has been under a hedge. I believe that there are times that we’ve been protected, that there are times when enemies and adversaries would like to come against us and they’ve been unable to do it. And I want to tell you this, which is very very important. If God lifts the hedge over the country, then something terrible can happen. In other words, our hedge is dependent on our faith and obedience to God’s word.  The lack of faith and obedience can remove the hedge and the hand of God can be lifted off the nation.
  2. God can hand you into the hand of your enemy. According to Ezekiel 16:27 “Behold, therefore, I stretched out My hand against you, diminished your allotment, and gave you up to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your lewd behavior. In other words, God then says,” I can deliver you into the hands of your enemies, those that hate you, those that despise you, those that want to do evil. I can literally hand you into the hand of your enemy.”
  3. God will not deliver those that turn to idols. Jonah 2:8 “Those who regard worthless idols Forsake their own Mercy.  Judges 10:13-14 Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods. Therefore I will deliver you no more. 14 “Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in your time of distress.”  God says and teaches in His word that He will not deliver those that turn to idols. Now, we don’t necessarily have little clay gods and little clay idols, like these ancient cities had and were worshipping. But, I’ll tell you what happens to us. Is money your god? Is there a person you love more than God? Are there things like your job, that mean more to you than coming to God’s house on Sabbath day? You need to consider these things, because once you turn to idols, in the Book of Jonah, it says: You forsake your own mercy. Jonah 2:8 Are we there in the United States? Have we finally come to that in our country?
  4. God will not deliver people once they crossed the covenant bloodline. There is a covenant bloodline. There is a word that God gives people related to the covenant, related to the blood of Jesus Christ, related to the covenants of His word. And one thing about God, He’s a covenant keeping God. He honors His covenant. He swore by His name. He gave us His word, He gave us His name as a token of His covenant. For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, Hebrews 6:13  And see, God is merciful. When we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, who is Christ the Lord. So, in other words, if we sin, God is with us, God will forgive us – 1 John 1:9; 2:1 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. But, the thing that I wanna share with you, that’s important is this. Once America begins to legalize abominations and once America comes to the point where we take things God calls abominations and we make them legal, we cross a covenant bloodline and we are in serious danger of weather patterns changing, of our cities going bankrupt, of terrorism coming to our own country, of famine and drought striking the land because this is the only way, many times, that the Almighty can get the attention of a nation like the United States, is by lifting the hedge, lifting the hands and causing people to come together, pray together, work together and yes, to repent of those things that are contrary to God’s word.

I believe, actually, that we are parallel to the days of Lot. And I’m gonna conclude with this:

  1. In Lot’s day it was not safe to go out in the street at night– Luke 17:28-30 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. I look at the United States. Would you send your wife to the mall at night, in most major cities? Or, would you send your daughter to a store at night, in most major cities? Most people won’t do it. It’s not safe to go out in major cities at night,e specially if you are female, or a young girl, or young child.
  2. In the days of Lot, the righteous were threatened for their beliefs. Genesis 19:9  And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door. The men of Sodom threatened to kill Lot if Lot did not deliver  the men in the city, who were actually two angels in human form to them, for their lustful purposes.
  3. In the days of Lot, older men corrupted the younger men. Genesis 19:4 Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. Entire sections of the city had turned into complete perversions. I don’t think I even have to comment on that. All you have to do is look at the movies today, look at what comes on on television and understand the perversion level that America has come to.
  4. Lot’s family mocked him when he warned them that God would judge the city. Genesis 19:14 So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city!” But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking. Now, you remember that the Bible says that 4 people came out of Sodom and Gomorrah prior to the judgment: Lot, his wife and 2 daughters. Genesis 19:16 And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. But, the Bible says that he had sons in law and daughters there that mocked him and made fun of him when he said God would send judgment to the city. Remember this, that Peter said that in the last days, there’s going to come scoffers walking after their own lusts, saying, „Where is the promise of His coming?” 2 Peter 3:3-4 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue asthey were from the beginning of creation.” So, we’re in the timeframe where the scoffers are mocking.
  5. As in the days of Lot: Remember Lot’s wife. Lastly: Lot’s wife, on the way out of being delivered, she turned her back and actually lost out on the way out. And the Bible says this: Remember Lot’s wife. Luke 17:32 In other words, don’t turn back and don’t look back as we get near the time of the end.
