The vision of Pastor David Poena and the Maranatha Romanian COG in Garland, Texas is much appreciated and one which I believe God is pleased with! I am praying for more of our churches and pastors to rise up and extend their outreach to other communities for to start satellites and new church plants. If we don’t multiply, we’ll grow stale and eventually die! We must grow!

In Limba Romana:

Limiting Abortion Hurts Texas Men Who Like Women – a despicable editorial by Ben Sherman

Source – http://m.christianpost.com (ALSO read this second article from the Christian Post – Inherent and Obvious Misogyny: Abortion Enslaves Women to Men’s Carnal Lusts). This article was written originally for the Burn Orange Report. Burnt Orange Report is a blog „written from a progressive/liberal/Democratic standpoint” founded by University of Texas students.

Christian Post:

When the pro-abortion group ChoiceUSA coined the term „bro-choice,” it probably was not expecting self-described bro-choicer Ben Sherman’s July 3 editorial in Burn Orange Report. Letting women abort a fetus older than 20 weeks is important, he wrote, because it helps him have more casual sex. His words led pro-lifers to wonder why such a demeaning view of women is acceptable while pro-life men are told they should have no input in the abortion debate.

„Your sex life is at stake. Can you think of anything that kills the vibe faster than a woman fearing a back-alley abortion?” Sherman wrote in the article, titled „Bro-Choice: How #HB2 Hurts Texas Men Who Like Women.”

„Making abortion essentially inaccessible in Texas will add an anxiety to sex that will drastically undercut its joys,” Sherman continued. „And don’t be surprised if casual sex outside of relationships becomes far more difficult to come by.”

The week after Sherman wrote his article, pro-lifers can be found using the #brochoice hashtag on Twitter.

Kirsten Powers, a journalist for The Daily Beast and a pro-life Democrat who used to work for the Clinton administration, tweeted several passages from the column, then wrote this: „Members of this new #brochoice movement are pathetic. Act like a man and take some responsibility for your choices.”

„#Brochoice. Excusing men from their responsibilities by encouraging women to forgo theirs. #gross,” added conservative commentator Dana Loesch.

„True #brochoice would be giving dads a say in the fate of the child they helped create. #Life,” Eric Teetsel, executive director of the Manhattan Declaration, remarked.

ChoiceUSA has a webpage describing its „Bro-Choice Campaign.”

„Through the Bro-Choice Campaign, Choice USA will elevate this dialogue in the media, ultimately disrupting the dominant narrative that reproductive justice is exclusively a ‘women’s issue,'” it states.

Bro-choicers can sign the „Bro-Choice Pledge,” to, among other things, „challenge negative stereotypes and representations of men and masculinity,” and „call out sexism and rape culture when I see it.”

Pro-life activist Ryan Scott Bomberger also took on the bro-choice campaign with his own unique visual style. At toomanyaborted.com he has a series of memes about „pro-choice multiple personalities” that can be posted to Facebook or Twitter.

„In one breath, abortion activists will declare ‘religion has no place in a woman’s right to choose!’ Then in the next, they scream ‘Hail Satan!'” he wrote. „The PRO-CHOICE ACTIVISM MULTIPLE PERSONALITY memes … may be funny, but they illuminate a serious debilitating condition.”

In the bro-choice meme, „‘Pro-Choice’ Multiple Personality #8450” (shown), one pro-choicer says: „Men have, like, NO say about abortion and stuff.” The other pro-choicer adds, „Unless you’re BRO-CHOICE like me.”

Can We Know Things to Be True Through Faith?

VIDEO by drcraigvideos:
Dr William Lane Craig answers a question about the relationship of knowledge to faith? Is faith a way to truth? On March 21, 2013, Dr Craig spoke at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas on the topic of faith, science and philosophy. This event was put on by the Veritas Forum which hosts university events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life’s hardest questions and the relevance of Jesus Christ to all of life. The style of this talk was more like a conversation than a lecture as Dr Craig shares much of his own personal story about how he came to faith in Jesus Christ. Matt Chandler – Gravity The Weight of Pastoring to the Knowledge of Christ

April 7,2006

photo form http://www.blog.sojournchurch.com

More Matt Chandler Sermon messages here

At Dallas Theological Seminary from April 7,2006 att Chandler is the Pastor of The Village Church in Highland, Texas.

I want you to just take a walk with me through the life of Jesus and see some things, because I think if you see them as we walk through this, then maybe some of your broken places could get restored.

In Hebrews 2:16-17 it says  For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the[o]descendant of Abraham. 17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, tomake propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Abraham here means you and I. In ‘He had to be made like His brethren in all things’ we find out that Jesus was the firstborn of many brothers (you and me being the brethren) that He had to be made like his brethren in all things.

For me there was a disjoint in studying the life of Jesus. The cross of Christ, the purchasing, the propitiation for our sins and the difficulty of life in which He lived didn’t always seem to add up for me. It seems that Jesus could have been born into that manger, could have lived a normal life, a life that we’re reading here (in the Bible) not so normal. It is a life filled with betrayal, and pain, and death, and hardship, and longing, and aching. I mean, you name it, it’s an extremely difficult life and I find myself saying, „Why? Why so necessary for Him to suffer so much? Why so necessary for Him to hurt so much? Why so necessary for such darkness to be around the walkings of Jesus on earth? Could He not just be slaughtered on the cross and let us have our propitiation?

The text says that Jesus knew the gravity of hate, of loss, of betrayal, of being overwhelmed, of being exhausted and being taunted as you seek God…so when I get that phone call (of someone who died, etc) He sits there with me and says, „I know, I know”.  And that in that moment when betrayal happens, and I promise you (that) church folk are like piranha. If you look strong they’ll leave you alone, but if you have a limp they will eat you alive. At that moment when betrayal occurs and you feel so angry and frustrated He’s not in the heavens saying, „Yeah, we need to figure out that I’ve got this thing”. Instead He goes, „… I know… I know”. So I know that you and I have choices on the kind of people that we are and the kind of people that we’re becoming and I know that when gravity strikes the soul there’s the chance that bitterness and anger and hurt begin to reign in the soul and I know that because it happens all over in the Scriptures .

In Ruth you find Naomi saying, „Quit calling me Naomi, you call me Mara”, after the death of her husband and her sons, Mara (being) the Hebrew word for bitter. She began to be owned by her own sorrow. And then job’s wife, who in the middle of her husband’s great despair would say, „Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die, you fool”. I know there is this idea, there can become this pretense that happens- the gravity of the fallen world weighs heavily on our soul and there has to be this pretense that we’re ok. There has to be the gravity that the world has fallen upon us and so we bury it and the root of bitterness begins to take root. And my hope is that maybe the simple knowledge that He knows, maybe the simple knowledge that Jesus endured  difficulty and pain and hardship ‘for such a moment as this’, when you have loss, or anger, or maybe in your journey you’re frustrated because it seems in the dissecting of theology and theology becoming systematic for you, you somehow have lost your heart… that maybe in the gravity of these things we may not find ourselves running from Him, pretending, but to Him in honesty. As the Scriptures say, „He knows and is able to be faithful and merciful to His brothers”.

Mark Driscoll interviews Matt Chandler

Mark Driscoll, pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington poses several questions to Matt Chandler, Pastor of the Village Church in the Dallas area in Texas and also the new president of ACTS29, an international church planting organization about his new book – The explicit Gospel and about the difficulty of preaching and leading a church.

Here’s a quote from Matt Chandler that is an accurate description of someone who „assumes” the Gospel:

„People in the heartland are very informed about what the Bible teaches on holiness and what a Christian’s life should look like, but without a love for Jesus and an understanding of his justifying and adopting work on the cross, [they] lack the ability to joyfully pursue God’s commanded holiness.

So they find themselves in a state of self-righteousness because they compare their strengths to other people’s weaknesses and feel better about themselves….  then they get so discouraged trying to be good enough for God that they eventually bail on the church and Jesus because they think they tried him, but never really did.

Full video of ‘The Response’ – Texas Governor Rick Perry’s call to Prayer & Fasting for a Nation in Crisis

According to the website, these videos will be posted on the website only until the end of August.

RESPONSE: a call to prayer for a nation in crisis

You can read more about it on The Response website. (www.Responseusa.com)

The live event took place and was videotaped at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. The videos are several hours each, and contain worship, prayer and preaching. The event took place August 6th, 2011 from 10 am-5pm.

Why a Solemn Assembly of Prayer and Fasting?

In Joel chapter two, an ancient Hebrew prophet speaks to a nation in crisis and gives her God’s solution: gather together, repent of their sins, and pray to God to intervene on their behalf. In that day the command was for everyone to stop what they were doing and gather for a sacred assembly to turn to God with all their hearts, „with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning” (Joel 2:12).

Why did God desire fasting, weeping, and mourning – or, to put it differently, contrition and humility – from the people? A „sacred assembly” (Joel 2:15) was a gathering that served a few purposes: first, in gathering, the people were acknowledging that their nation had drifted away from its foundations in morality and faith. Because of this moral decline, the people were not prepared to face the external threats rising up against them: economic, political, and military in nature. God wanted His people to understand that their internal threats (moral decline) were far greater than their external threats (economic crisis and military invasion).

In gathering together, God wanted the people instructed so that they would know why their nation was in peril. God wanted the people – from the children and nursing babes to the leaders and priests (Joel 2:16) – to all completely understand both the nature of the crisis at hand and the only solution that would deliver them from their great crisis: God Himself. God ordained in that hour of history that prayer would serve as the only way of escape from the mounting trouble. Why? Because only God had the power to solve both the internal moral decline and the external economic and military threats. All three were unsolvable by human means and human solutions – but God had a solution that could be found in His great mercy.

In gathering together, therefore, the people could cry out together with their leaders in humility and repentance led by their priests (Joel 2:17). There is power from heaven available to those who gather together and pray. We see a „Joel 2” gathering at the beginning of the book of Acts with a „Joel 2” answer in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2). The greatest missions movements in history – starting with the Apostle Paul – were launched out of prayer gatherings like the one in Acts 13. The great Catholic, Protestant, and Student Volunteer missions movements were all launched out of gatherings of prayer. The greatest revivals in history, such as the First and Second Great Awakenings, were also birthed out of sustained, persistent gatherings of prayer. Dramatic things have happened throughout many generations when the people of God come together and seek His face. Who knows what can happen in our generation when we gather together to worship Jesus, fast and pray, and believe for great change in our nation?
