In Awe of God’s Creation – National Geographic Stunning Time-Lapse Video: Elemental Iceland – Coplesit de Creatia lui Dumnezeu

Photographer Stian Rekdal combined thousands of photos to create this time-lapse video showcasing Iceland’s natural beauty. He spent three weeks—and more than 3,000 miles—on the road and took more than 40,000 photos. He used about 3,500 of these to make the video. In Awe of God’s Creation – Imagini pe cer surprinse pe vârful vulcanului Mauna Kea din Hawaii,

Photo credit extremethinkover.com Story from TheVerge.com

ENGLISH:

This three-minute time-lapse video was shot at the summit of Mauna Kea, the 13,803-foot (4.2 km) volcano in Hawaii. Due to its position, the peak is ideal for space observation. It’s currently home to the Manua Kea Observatories, which are used for scientific research across the electromagnetic spectrum, and will soon play host to the world’s largest optical telescope. Photographer Sean Goebel spent seven days and nights over several months capturing the observatories against the spectacular constellations of the Milky Way. The video is made all the more impressive by the sight of lasers seemingly blasting their way into the abyss.

In awe of God’s Creation – Aurora Borealis in Iceland Video- Coplesit de creatia lui Dumnezeu

Aurora Borealis observed in Norway on 2006-10-28.

One of the best video compilations I have seen!

Aurora Borealis are a natural light phenomena that can be seen specially in the Earth Poles. The North Pole ones are called Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights, while the South Pole are Aurora Australis or Southern Lights. They appear because of a collision from the particles that form the sun wind against the magnetic fields of the Earth.
The scene of this video is Iceland, a place with amazing landscapes at any time of the year, but it’s in winter when this country attracts the most attention because of the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights.

Enrique Pacheco has made this video during many personal expeditions and workshops in Iceland from the last three years. Enrique Pacheco is an expert in Iceland landscape and Aurora Borealis shooting, with more than 12 successful trips. If you are interested in travel to Iceland and live this unique experience, Enrique Pacheco offers workshops, in which you’ll learn the time-lapse technique, improve your photography skills and enjoy the amazing phenomena of the Aurora Borealis. enriquepacheco.com/workshop-aurora-borealis-in-iceland

This video has been made with the time-lapse technique, using DSLR cameras to capture consecutive pictures and then put them together. Most of the shots have 10 and 20 seconds of exposition in between, were shot with wide lenses and with the maximum aperture. ISO 1600 and 3200 are the main ones.

In Awe of God’s Creation – A Rare Event: Noctilucent Clouds & a Spectacular Aurora – Nori Noctilucenti si o Aurora Spectaculoasa – Coplesit de Creatia lui Dumnezeu

Photo credit and story www.slate.com (via Descoper.Ro)

VIDEO by Maciej Winiarczyk

ENGLISH (from the BBC)

An amateur astronomer has captured rare images of a night sky lit up by unusual high altitude clouds and the Aurora Borealis. Macieji Winiarczyk, a member of Caithness Astronomy Group (CAG), photographed the noctilucent clouds and Northern Lights earlier this month. The images were captured over Caithness and have been used to create time lapse footage.

US space agency Nasa has featured the time lapse on an astronomy website.

On the site, astronomers said it was rare to see the clouds and aurora individually. Noctilucent is the Cloud Appreciation Society’s cloud of the month for August. The society said they form in a region of extreme cold in the atmosphere about 30 to 50 miles (48-85 km) from the Earth’s surface.

On its website it said: „Noctiulcent clouds can only be spotted during the summer months and then only occasionally. „They always have an eerie blue, rippled appearance and the processes behind their formations are far from clear.”

Footage from a time-lapse workshop during the Perseid Meteor Shower. Shot on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night in Joshua Tree National Park. Please note that not all of the light trails are meteors. Some of them are airplanes or satellites crossing the night sky. You can tell by the direction and length of the trails.

In Awe of God’s Creation – Mt. Everest Time Lapse Video – Din varful lui Everest – Coplesit de Creatia lui Dumnezeu

Source: Slate:

Breath-taking! [Haha!] I live at an elevation of 1700 meters, and I’ve been up as high as 3700, where the air is thin enough (about 2/3 pressure as at sea level) that just moving around for some people is difficult. Photographer Elia Saikaly went up to 8000 meters to shoot that video, staying awake into the night while other, more sane climbers, were sleeping. At that height, air pressure is a mere one-third what it is at sea level, and climbers, not surprisingly, call it the “death zone”.

Read Saikaly’s account of his travels to scale Everest. It’s harrowing, and amazing, and wonderful. Climbing such mountains is incredibly dangerous, and some people undertake it foolishly. But the ones who prepare, study, practice, and understand what they are doing: I salute them. The spirit it takes to explore is an astonishing thing, and I’m glad so many possess it.

(Descopera.ro)

Randy Halverson: If you have ever been in a wide open landscape the most interesting thing isn’t necessarily the landscape itself, but what you see coming over the horizon. Growing up in South Dakota the landscape itself can be beautiful at times, but that doesn’t compare to what the sky can do, especially at night. Combine that with the landscape, and it makes for great photo opportunities. ROMANIAN:

More information and stills at dakotalapse.com/2013/06/horizons/

In Awe of God’s Creation – New Zealand landscapes time lapse – Frumusetea Noua Zeelandă – Coplesit de Creatia lui Dumnezeu

Photographer Bevan Percival time lapse New Zealand

Psalm 92:5 How great are Your works, O LORD!

Photographer Bevan Percival loves to chase ” fleeting moments of damatic light on beautiful landscapes and also capturing the night sky and milky way in all it’s glory”. And how does he get spectacular footage like this (it takes hundreds of hours to make a time lapse of just a few minutes and several thousands of frames)? Percival says he  does this by „curling up out under the stars beside all the gear for whole nights at a time catching some sleep here and there between checking the gear and changing batteries and staring up into eternity with spectacular meteors burning up in the cosmic shore out the corner of your eye.

The result is simply breathtaking. For myself, I see the fingerprint of God all over the place.
